My Favourite Jewellery Making Tool

Good Afternoon.

Today I am going to tell you about my favourite jewellery making tool which is this magic crimper.

Magic Crimper

The purpose of this magic crimper tool is to make crimp tubes into a round shape.

I use sterling silver 2mm crimp tubes for my necklaces and bracelets.  I use beadalon wire.  To start off a necklace or a bracelet, you cut the length of wire you need.  You then place a 2mm crimp tube about one inch from the end of the wire.  You then thread the end of the wire through the end part of the clasp you are using (e.g. trigger clasp), then fold the wire back so it goes through the crimp tube.  You now have a loop of wire between the crimp tube and the trigger clasp.  You will see that the magic crimper when it is closed has a round circle near it's tip.

You open the magic crimper and put the crimp tube on the wire, into the circular hole, and squeeze hard.  Then open the magic crimper and turn the crimp tube slightly, close the magic crimper on the crimp tube again and squeeze.  You might have to do this a couple of times until  you get a circular shape of the crimp tube.  The purpose of the crimp tube is to make the fastening secure of your necklace or bracelet.  Make sure the crimp tube is in place and does not move.

You then put the beads on the wire to make the necklace or bracelet.  When you get to the end of the necklace, you will need to attach another crimp tube to the wire and the necklace fastening exactly as you did before.  I use a closed jump ring for the necklace fastening.

Using this magic crimper will give you professional looking jewellery.  When I first started making jewellery, I did not have the magic crimper and the tool that I was using to secure the crimp tube made it look flat. It was my daughter who put me on to the magic crimper and it made such a difference to the look of my jewellery.

I hope you have enjoyed me telling you about my favourite jewellery making tool.

Please leave a comment if you have enjoyed it.  You might even make jewellery yourself and you cold leave me a comment as to what your favourite jewellery tool is or if you use a magic crimper when making your jewellery.
